AS BARONET Sir William Jaffray looks set to end his long-running Names battle with insurance behemoth Lloyd's of London, he has more good news.
He has announced the engagement of his only daughter, 24-year-old Christie's events
co-ordinator Alexandra (right) to Old Etonian film producer Fraser Robinson, 35.
'Alexandra is incredibly beautiful, so we clicked as soon as I saw her! But then Heathfield girls have always gone well with Eton boys,' says American-born Fraser.
Despite their orthodox backgrounds, however, he tells me his proposal last Friday was more modern than planned.
'We were on holiday in Greece when I realised I hadn't spoken to Alexandra's father,' he says. 'After making frantic calls trying to
get hold of him, I had to resort to composing a rather formal text. It got through and he said: "I'm delighted." ' The couple, who have been together for three years, are planning a Chelsea wedding next year for their far-flung family -- Alexandra's
mother Cynthia is from Canada while Fraser, who went to Princeton University, owes his American roots to his banker father.
Sir William, who lost his home, led 200 refuseniks against Lloyd's in the insurance scandal..
