To the District Court of The United States, Southern District of New York

The petition of Herman Grossman respectfully shows:

 

First. My full name is Herman Grossman

 

Second. My place of address is number 93 Orchard Street, City of New York, Borough of Manhattan, State of New York

 

Third. My occupation is storekeeper

 

Fourth. I was born on the 22 day of Oct anno Domini 1866, at Jassy, Roumania

 

Fifth. I emigrated to the United States from Liverpool on or about the 1st day of June anno Domini 1886 and arrived at the port of NY in the United States, on the vessel Servia.

 

Sixth. I declared my intention to become a citizen of the United States on the 18th day of May anno Domini 1907 at NY Borough of Manhattan in the NY Circuit Court of So Dist of NY

 

Seventh. I am married. My wife's name is Lena Grossman. She was born in Roumania and now resides at 93 Orchard St, NY. I have 8 children and the name, date and place of birth, and places of residence of each of said children is as follows:

Samuel Grossman, born NY City, NY April 2, 1897

Rose Grossman, born NY City, NY Feb. 15, 1899

Abraham Grossman, born NY City, NY Sept. 4, 1902

Morris Grossman, born NY City, NY June 5, 1893

Israel Grossman, born NY City, NY March 30, 1904

Millie Grossman, born NY City, NY Jan. 14, 1895

Benjamin Grossman, born NY City, NY Oct. 22, 1906

all residing at 93 Orchard St, NY

 

Eighth. I am not a disbeliever in or opposed to organized government or a member of or affiliated with any organization or body or persons teaching disbelief in organized government. I am not a polygamist nor a believer in the practice of polygamy. I am attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and it is my intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce absolutely and forever all allegiances and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, and particularly to Charles King of Roumania of which at this time I am a subject, and it is m intention to reside permanently in the United States.

 

Ninth. I am able to speak the English language.

 

Tenth. I have resided continuously in the United States of America for a term of five years at least immediately preceding the date of this petition, to wit, since the 17 day of June, anno Domini 1886, and in the State of New York for one year at least next preceding the date of this petition, to wit since the 17 day of June anno Domini 1886.

 

Eleventh. I have not heretofore made petition for citizenship to any court.

 

Attached hereto and made a part of this petition is my declaration of intention to become a citizen of the United States. Wherefore your petitioner prays that he may be admitted a citizen of the United States of America
